RECRUITMENT AND SELECTION IN AN INTERNET CONTEXT

On this chapter, now I understand the relationship between internet and recruitment of new employees. The main objective of recruitment is to attract and hire qualified job applicants for company’s productivity. In the mean time by applying e-recruitment, the company able to attract diversified background of job applicants. Thus, the company able to attract some qualified people.

There are several benefits of using e-recruitment which are minimize the cost of filling job openings, reduce time and increase efficiency in the process of gathering and sorting data. Many research conducted had proved these matters. By using e-recruitment, the company also able to reach mass of targets and the chances to get qualified applicants is bigger. However, there are also several disadvantages of using the systems which are systems breakdown, fraud and information overload where there are too many applicants, especially unqualified applicants.

The company must also ensure that the website is easy and user friendly. The website also incorporates secure and protective application in order to avoid hacking activities. It is also beneficial for the company to receive feedback from job applicants about the systems for systematic review and improvements.
From my readings, I also understand that from the system, employers not only gain the personal information of the applicants, but they also able to attach several assessment tools such as knowledge test, ability test, personality test and so on. This is to ensure that the company meets with the quality of applicants they want. However, there are several test that need to be done face-to-face such knowledge test, skills and ability test in order to avoid cheating.

Now, I realized that by using the system to recruit and select new employees, the company able to reach with many qualified job applicants. But, several considerations must take into this matter as not everything can be done by virtually. There are several matters that need to be assess lively to ensure that employers hire a good worker.

GLOBALIZING HRIS

We are living in the world that has no boundaries, means that we are able to reach vast of information that we need and you do not need to travel to get the information. A lot of companies nowadays are in the process of globalization, globally internet worked enterprises. When they expanding their business into global, the company must ensure which model that they wanted to apply. There are 4 models in HRIS which are global, international, multinational and transactional model which consist of these 3 models. In my opinion, transactional model is the best model to apply because it allows company to operate globally, international and multinational. This is because it might be certain matters that need to be globalized and certain matter must be adapted to the local environment.

These 4 models can be differentiated by the technological architectures of the systems. There are 3 types of technological architecture which are stand-alone system model, data warehouse and single integrated system. Stand-alone system model is which each unit runs their own system. A company in North America might require information of a company in Middle East. So, the company must directly get the information from the company in Middle East. On the other hand, Data Warehouse is where model in which every company uses the same software. All of the information required is been stored at data mart. Single Integrated system is where a system which is balance means that it is not overly localized or centralized. The databases generally located at headquarter and any update will automatically goes into the system throughout the organization.

These 3 architectures should be suitable with the service delivery either local, national, regional or global.  Stand-alone system model is suitable in organization at local level. Data warehouse system is suitable in organization that operates in national and regional level and single integrated system model is suitable in organization that operates in global level.
